  • Painting high-humidity areas

    Hello everyone!

How to paint high-humidity areas like bathrooms to prevent issues such as bubbling or peeling? I need to know if certain primers will help, also are there any paints that perform better in these conditions?

    Thanks!

    Hi DarkKnight!

When painting high-humidity areas like bathrooms, preparation is essential to avoid issues like peeling or bubbling. Start by cleaning the walls to remove dirt, soap scum, or mildew, and ensure the surfaces are completely dry. Sand any rough or peeling spots and patch imperfections for a smooth base.

Apply a moisture-resistant primer to help the paint stick better and block humidity. Using an eggshell finish or semi-gloss paint is ideal for high-moisture spaces, as these finishes are durable, moisture-resistant, and easy to clean.

Finally, ensure proper ventilation in the room. Adequate airflow helps prevent moisture buildup, which can affect the paint over time. Allow each coat to dry thoroughly, and avoid exposing the area to moisture while the paint is curing. Following these steps will keep your paint looking fresh for a long time.
