Hi there! I am curious what would be the best option for painting exterior walls of a beachfront house. I know the salty air and high humidity can be devastating for normal paints. Do the interior walls also require special paint for these conditions? Any help or guidance would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi TT!
For a beachfront home, you’ll want to go with something tough for the exterior. The salty air, humidity, and intense sun can be rough on regular paint. Acrylic latex paint is a great choice since it’s durable and holds up well to the elements. If you want to go all out, elastomeric paint is even better – it stretches a bit, which helps it resist cracks and water damage over time.
Inside, you don’t need anything quite as heavy-duty, but high humidity can still lead to mold and mildew, especially in bathrooms and kitchens. A good quality moisture-resistant paint will help keep walls in good shape. And if you can, improve ventilation – it makes a big difference in extending the life of any interior paint in a humid spot like this.
Basically, tough exterior paint with moisture and mold-resistant interior options should cover all bases. Let me know if you want to dive deeper into any part of this!
