  • How do you remove artifical rock from some outside walls of my house?

I have just purchased a home that has artifical rock (we use to call it stucco stone) around the entry, it looks like it has been put on with cement, but that may be just the grout. I want to take it off and put siding on that is updated. Has anyone done that kind of job, and if so how?

    Thanks, Judie

A hammer drill with a chisel bit would probably do some good.

the stucco is the final wall surface. beneath this is a coarser cement bonded to a metal lath that is nailed to the sheathing or directly to the studding. the thickness is built up to about 1 1/4 inch. removing the stucco and replacing with siding which has an overlapping thickness of about 1 inch may be a problem - I don't know how to even out the thickness and make it look decent. a board maybe - still would look like an eyesore.
