The only thing more aggravating than the "dry clean only" label is the "hand wash only" label. We all know that hand washing certain garments will protect them from the washing machine and allow them to last longer, but what is the correct way to actually hand wash clothing? The procedure is actually pretty simple.
1. Use a clean sink or large basin filled with the correct water temperature stated on the label.
2. Add a few drops of mild detergent. Add bleach if needed for whites.
3. Put the clothing in the water and gently swirl around or knead it. If it is stained, let it soak for a little while.
4. Unplug the sink's drain and rinse the clothing until the water runs clear.
5. Gently ring out the water and lay flat to dry.
