Dust bunnies, dust bunnies, dust bunnies!

Where there is 1, there are 10 more. They always tend to return unless you can get control of them before they multiply. So, how do you get rid of something that keeps coming back? PREVENTION is the first step! There are a several ways you can reduce dust before it starts to accumulate.

1. In rooms where you spend a lot of time (bedroom, living room, etc.), minimize objects that gather dust.

2. If you wake up with a runny nose or are allergic, cover your mattresses and pillows in zippered, allergen-reducing covers. Be sure to wash twice a year in HOT water.

3. Place heavy-duty doormats (rubber back, tight weave) outside every entrance into the house.

4. Use fan-powered air purifiers in your busiest rooms to trap dust before it settles.

5. Reduce static by keeping the humidity level at 40%-50% in your home. Static attracts dust, making it harder to get rid of.

6. Blinds are easier to clean than drapes. You can just wipe them with a microfiber cloth. If you do have drapes, dust or vacuum rods or valances first, then clean the length with your vacuum's brush or upholstery tool on lower suction.

7. Try to refrain from using fabric softener or dryer sheets when cleaning your dust rags; it reduces their ability to attract and hold dust.
