Yeah...I found that out.
I ended up re-installing my original program but I got a message saying essentially that I was not allowed to use it anymore since I've already downloaded to my laptop and two other computers I own.
So, I called up some MS tech in India , explained to him what happened with my hard drive.
He gave me a new number code to punch in so my copy would work.
