  • Fax info....

Okay, the 'problem' is no phone line, the internet connection is via cable. There's a copier/scanner/printer/fax machine hooked up. The question is: Can a fax be sent this way? And received?

your telephone is connected to the cable modem by a rj-11 plug. this is the same connection that is on the fax machine. the machine will receive faxes as well as telephone calls.

      Fax info....

Well, the house phone is really just cell phone usage, while the internet and tv are through cable. There is no 'real' phone as was in the 'old' days...that's why I'm wondering if fax is a possibility....

Only if your Internet provider has given you a proper modem that can convert analog phone signals to digital for transmission over their network, and the service plan that includes phone service. This is something you'd have had to pay for. Otherwise, methinks no.

Also, it is possible you can damage your fax by connecting it to the RJ45 on your modem or router. The RJ45 (8 wires) looks like a large RJ11 (4 wires).
