  • Laptop screen's hertz (Hz)

Hi everyone! Does the hertz (Hz) of my laptop screen indicate the maximum FPS it can display?

    Hi DK!

Yes, the hertz (Hz) of your laptop screen does indicate the maximum frames per second (FPS) it can display. The refresh rate (in Hz) tells you how many times per second the screen refreshes the image.

For example, if your screen has a refresh rate of 60 Hz, it can display a maximum of 60 FPS. Even if your game or application is running at a higher FPS (e.g., 120 FPS), your screen will still only display 60 FPS because of its 60 Hz limit. If your screen has a higher refresh rate (e.g., 120 Hz or 144 Hz), it can display up to that many frames per second, assuming your system can produce those FPS levels.

In short, the refresh rate limits the FPS that can be displayed on your screen.
