Child safety on stairs

Hi everyone,
What are some effective ways or tools to help keep young children from falling on stairs? I’m looking for ideas other than baby gates, especially things that help prevent slipping or tripping.

Hi there!
Two things that can really help are adding non-slip stair treads to prevent slipping and installing a low handrail that kids can easily reach. Both make the stairs a lot safer without needing a gate.
