cutting metal roofing with wire?

has anyone heard of cutting metal roofing with just a piece
of wire. I heard second hand that it can be done, and if so
would rather do that than use the backward saw blade.

I have cut my share of metal roofing materials (corrugated, flat, heavy and light gauges.) Most times a carbon type of blade was used. Thats what its meant for.(metal cutting) Using a "backward saw blade will work, but is a dangerous practice (especially if a tooth breaks off. Never heard of a piece of wire being used. I'll keep an eye on any replys about using a piece of wire...Hube
