    banister/ spindles/ newell post

Im looking for a site or information on how to properly install a banister/ spindles/ newell post on our stairway
We currently do not have one and wish to install a very sturdy one
We have all the materials, including an antique rail/ spindles and newell post
SO any information would be good

Try time-life books. They are very specific on installations. Also try www.hgtv.com - The series on TV about home improvements.

Most of the time the ballusters are bolted in place on the exterior stringer. The newell posts just support the handrail and are screwed up from the bottom through the step. The upper rail is installed in two pieces, first the base is screwed into the ballusters and newell posts then the cap is screwed or finish nailed into the base.
