Hanging Ceiling Joists

I am making a room in the top of my garage and need to hang the ceiling joists. The problem is I have a six foot knee wall, so the joists will hung off of the rafters.

What is the best way to ensure that the joists are hung level across the room as well as the full length? The room size is 16 wide and 40 long.

Set some string lines, using a line level or laser level.

Remember that any 2X... has at least a small crown. Put them up so that they all crown in the same direction, probably crown UP.
