  • gable fan used with roof vent

we moved into a house with a peak vent and we have soffet vents. the attic is still over 100 degrees in the day, would a gable fan reduce the temperature and can the fan be used with the peak vents??

If you have both soffit and peak vents, you are headed in the right direction. The only thing is; do you have enough?
The calculation is ;for every 300 sq ft of attic floor area you should have a MINIMUM of 1 free unobstructed sq ft of venting (divided 50/50 between soffit and peak)
Btw, you can NEVER have too much vent as long as you have ample insulation in the attic floor.
Imo, adding gable fans,(powered or gravity) are a waste of time and money as long as you have proper soffit/peak vents.
And 100 degrees in an attic is not considered too warm, even with proper venting an attic temp can easily reach 130 and much more.
Most attics could be 100 or more with a outside temp of only 60- 70 ,especially on a sunny day.
