I would like to know that best way to hang a 4'x8' sheet of pegboard (longways) against a cinder block wall in my garage. Should I screw 2x4's as furring strips with tapcon screws? I need some advice before I attempt this myself. Thank you to all respondents.

terpgm,
Welcome to the forum.
You will need to use a standoff of some sort so the pegs have room to slide in (2x4 will work) and the more narrow the better (to a point) so you don't block too many peg holes.
I would build a 4' x 8' frame out of 2x2 on the floor with one 2x2 in the middle for additional support and then attach that to the wall making sure it is square. Tapcon screws would also be my choice. Then attach the pegboard to the frame.
Good luck, Jim
