Leaky ceiling

Please help!
Our house is only 5 1/2 years old and we just noticed within the last few days, with the consistent rain, that the ceiling in our bathroom has water spots and new spots have appeared within the last 24 hours.
We have gone up to the attic and looked around but because of the way the insulation is placed (it is piled up rather than laid down) we cannot get underneath to see what the problem is.
Could it be anything other than a leaky roof? We did not notice any water coming through the roof when we inspected the attic.
What else can we do the try and get to the root of the problem? We are really concerned, as it is getting increasingly worst.

check to see if the exhaust fan ducting is just laying in the insulation. moisture could be condensing in the insulation and forming a puddle over your bathroom ceiling and leaking through the sheetrock joints. if your chimney is close by the bathroom location look to the lead sheathing that is used for a flashing between the roof and chimney brick or block. the lead is usually hammered into the block ot brick without a cement or weatherproofing. water has a tendency to flow where it wants too without reference to the law of gravity. least resistance to flow is the best I can offer as to where its going. look for a discoloration on the rafters and the underside of the roof sheathing. nails, splinters all will direct water flow and will drip.
