    Foul Odor After installing Shelving

We have a brand new home and recently had wire shelving installed by a professional. After about a week, I noticed a really bad odor coming from 2 different closets. I can't even explain what it smells like, but it makes us gag when we go in. Is it possible that drilling holes released this bad odor? Has anyone ever heard of this problem? One closet is being used as a pantry and other for storing brooms etc. I tried setting out dishes of vinegar, but now it just smell awful with vinegar on top! Please help.

    room smell

Is it possible that some of the walls back up to a bathroom? Sometimes a screw or fastener will make it's way into a drain pipe from the second floor or the vent stack to the roof.

In a spray bottle add two teaspoons of Arm and Hammer Baking Soda. Mix with about cups of water. Shake and spray...It will help to get rid of the ordor.
