    Hi all,
I'm in the process of convering a garage into a bed room. I'm curious to know if it's alright to use one inch styrofoam to insulate between the studs. Then I would put sheet rock over it. These are the same styrofoam they use to insulate new homes before adding on the stucco. Any concerns around the electrical outlets?

1" styrofoam doesn't have as much r-value as the 3 1/2". Why not go with that?

Nightvision; Use the 3 1/2"- R-12 FIBERGLAS INSULATION ( in the walls) if the walls are 2x4. It has AT LEAST TWICE the "R" Value of normal density 1" styrfoam. Also, use the plastic box covers around the electrical boxes to eliminate drafts, etc.. IF the walls are 2x6, then you could use a R 20 insulation. Good luck, Hube
