  • lock bumping

I have recently been made aware of lock bumping and want to find more info how to prevent this. I have searched the web and found many sites and quite a bit of info. I am looking for some experts here to provide their wisdom. such as
    1. Which door locks, dead bolts etc are the best and cost effective at preventing bumping.
    2. Are dead latches also susceptible to bumping?
    3. Any other wisdom.

cheap locksets are prone to bumping like KWIKSET and SHLAGE. Locks with machined cylinders and plugs are not. Most metals for mass produced locks are what is called "pot-metal." MEDECO locks are very hard to pick as the pins are raised and turned ninety degrees before the plug will turn.
