GE refrigerator

i just bought a new GE frig Top freezer model GTK17JBB2RBS - every time the motor turns on we get a weird noise which last from about 1minute to 5. Repairman came yesterday & said this is normal especially for models after 1995. said something about fluid going through parts. Did anyone ever hear of this or have the same problem. Thanks!
