  • Woods Freezer - Evap Fan Not Starting

    Woods Model: C675-F17SCLE S/N: 13122825MK Type: F47F-LWGS360

Evaporator Fan is getting 115V, but not starting on its own. Giving it a "push" gets it going. Replaced with a new motor, this one will not keep going after given a "push". It seems like there isn't sufficient current to get the fan going/keep it running... Everything else seems to be running properly, except of course the fact that it's icing up without the fan running.

Any ideas of where to start would be appreciated, Thanks.

change the start capacitor or inspect the centrifugal start switch inside the motor.

The only capacitor in the system is the one on the compressor - checked it to see if it was shorted, looks ok in that regard. Is there still a possibility it is bad in some way?

The evaporator fan motor works fine when hooked up to 115V manually.

ok, if the fan runs out of the fridge, check the connection where it plugs into at the bottom of the unit. if the voltage is low coming out of the plug, the motor won't have enough "oomph" to get going. look for a voltage problem. see if there's a burnt relay in the control circuitry.

Apparently all that tinkering around accomplished something... once everything was back together, works fine. Possibly a loose connection.
