I've got an older Panasonic model that leaves a good amount of water on the turntable and I've never seen this happen in others. Anyone know what causes it? Thanks.

The only place water can come from in a microwave oven is condensation. That is usually from the moisture escaping from food being cooked. Either cover food of high moisture content while cooking or there may be a slim chance of the blower fan motor in the microwave not operating or the vents in the microwave cabinet being blocked.
