I have an old Cockshutt tractor with 6 volt coil and old point style distributor. Can I change the electronics in the distributor to a new style electronic sytem instead of the old points? I already changed the coil to 12 volts no resistor required.

I don't know who that frequents this Appliance forum would have knowledge of tractors. You might need to try finding an Automotive forum and try asking there instead? I don't think Troy has an automotive forum as part of his Home Repair Forum.
