will a Whirlpool DUL300XTLS0 heating element part #W10134009 work in this Kenmore Dishwasher. Kenmore wants $170 for the element and the control board and this whirlpool element looks like the one that was in the dishwasher

The W10134009 element was used in plastic tub, tall-tub dishwashers. The other is for stainless steel tub models.

The reason for the higher price is that the replacement element for the stainless steel model is of higher wattage and comes with a new electronic control which needs to be replaced at the same time. The new control compensates for the higher wattage element which was changed for increased performance.

I do not know what the wattage of your original heater was nor what the wattage is of the element used in the plastic tub dishwasher models. I also don't know the physical size of either. I couldn't say if it would be safe to interchange them. Sorry.
