  • Maytag Dryer Enclosure Panels

I have a Maytag Electric Dryer (DE308), where the drum no longer turns. I suspect a belt or the like and I want to be able to check it out and fix it, if possible. A dryer this old is probably not worth paying to be fixed at this point.

My problem is simple -- and somewhat stupid.

How to I remove the wrap-around panels so that I can access the inside of the dryer? I have removed all the screws I can fine (front, sides and back) but the cover is not coming off. I am loathe to use too much force, not wanting to screw this up any further.

Is there some kind of trick to this that I don't know about, or is more elbow grease the answer? Does the top need to come off/be loosened and, if so, how is that done?

If you have time to help me with this, I'd be very grateful.

Here's a couple of links that'll show you how to remove the panels to access your belt. Just scroll down to Maytag on the first link and it'll direct you from there. Good Luck

This Appliantology article explains how to disassemble your dryer so you can repair it.
