Whirlpool Dishwasher Model DU930PWST1 will not drain

The subject dishwasher will shut off at the final drain cycle (all lights on panel turns off) and will not drain or go through the drying cycle. We can then open and close the door, lights remain off until we push the cancel/drain button at which time the dishwasher will drain and the panel then shuts off all lights again.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

What happens if you just push the cancel/drain button when it stops without opening the door?
