  • whirlpool dryer went kaput please help

Hi, we have a whirlpool LE6810xsw0 electric dryer and one day it was working fine. The next poof..not at all!! My husband ckd the fuse box and outlet all ok!! Was told to disconnect 2 wires and start the motor that way (bear with me please) and it worked. cked the continuity with an OHM meter (now I really sound like I know what I'm talking about, but have no clue) and all seems ok. Just had a baby and the funds aren't there right now!! Can anybody help?? Was told might need a new timer, but thats 100.00 and if thats not it we can't return...PLease help thanks Cheryl

UNPLUG and Remove rear panel of dryer.. to the left side at bottom there are 2 wires going to a thin white fuse... disconnect wires check the fuse for continuity ... if none replace .. main cause for this fuse to blow is blocked vent.....

Try going by the sequence diagram which should be pasted somewhere on the panel. Ensure that AC is being applied to timer and you can rotate thru the positions to confirm whether the timer is actually switching power.

Try the pust to start switch and the door switch also the same way.... if all is ok best guess is timer.... wire diagram is under console....

Hi and thank you so much...we tried example and got an a/c reading of 37 & 38 on the wires while timer is in off postion. When timer is turned on the ON position getting a zero (0) reading. is this what I am supposed to be getting???
            Thanks so much...

OK weird, when the unit is not plugged in, it shows continuity, when it IS plugged in, nothing anywhere. We cked the volyage in, and it shows 240 but thats it...

Hi and thank you for all your help...Really funny story said the hell with the dryer, went out and got a new one came home plugged it in and nothing...Turned out that the outlet was giving a reading of 246 and when the dryer was tested also a reading of 246 but the groiund wire wasn't fully secure...My husband tightened that and wouldn't ya know I know have 2 working dryers...a loose ground would cause the whole thing not to work??
