    Disposer won't turn-off

I have an In-Sink-Erator Pro 17. It operates by inserting and twisting the disposal cap. The disposal will turn on but won't turn off. I can get it to turn off eventually but normally it takes a number of tries.

    Thanks for the help.

Sounds like a failing sink switch. Can you kill power, remove it, and put it on the bench?

I believe the cover (when turned) makes the switch. It sounds like when the cover is removed, the switch does not return to the default (off) position. Have you inspected this area for debris, ware, etc? Is the cover itself perhaps worn?

Why would they design something like that, which they have to know will likely fail in a short life cycle? Is is that hard to add a switch? Even if it's under the sink, right by the door, it has to be handier than what Michael here is going through...
