We have a 1992 GE refrigerator,(TFHW24HRA) The icemaker started dumping water on the floor. I thought it was the ice maker, replaced it....same problem. I replaced the water inlet valve....same problem. When the icemaker is plugged in and turned on, it energizes the solenoid in the water valve continously instead of the 5-7 seconds that it should. Any ideas on where else to look for problems ?

You say you have changed both the icemaker and the water solenoid valve. Did it start leaking water immediately when you installed the new icemakeer or what there a two or three hour delay before it started leaking? There is a parafin based thermal switch in icemakers that is supposed to not allow water to flow unless the icemaker is cold. When a new icemaker is installed or if the freezer should happen to warm up above freezing there should be no water flow for a couple hours until the safety switch has had time to freeze and reset itself.
You say it leaks when the icemaker is plugged in. Is there any evidence of leaks when the icemaker is not plugged in? If it is leaking when the ice maker is plugged in, but not leaking when the icemaker is not plugged in, then we can assume the water valve is ok and the problem must be either in the icemaker head itself, or a possible short in the plug inside the frigde.
Was the new ice maker an exact replacement? If not, did you check the manual to insure that there was no modification to the internal wiring required to install this icemaker in your machine? Examine the cord on the ice maker and the mating plug in your fridge. Are they both the same? There are some three wire icemakers that will plug into the four wire plugs.
Look on the back of the ice maker head. some of them have a round button on the back of the control head with a slot for a coin. That is to manually turn the timer mechanism. Sometimes the timer is in the wrong position on a new ice maker and the timer wont start correctly. Tey inserting a coin ( a quarter) in the slot and turn the button about 1/4 of a turn and see if that solves your problem.
