Hi Folks,
Just a quick question. I've been looking around the net for prices on a new outdoor air conditioner units but have found nothing. I can find products and specs, etc. but no actual prices. We have 3 units out back (one is an American Standard Allegiance 10). One of them makes a lot of noise when starting and when we had our house inspected 1.5 years ago the inspector noticed a problem....2 of the units are on a slope. He said that wasn't a problem as long as we didn't try and level them since the bearings would have been worn unevenly. Anyway, my quick question is turning out to be a history lesson. Can anyone give me a rough idea how much it would cost to buy a replacement unit? We don't need a complete central air installation, everything is in place, we just want to figure out how much it would cost to replace 1 or more of the units. Consumer Reports estimated about 3 grand but they don't break it down so that figure may include other stuff too. I realize that the unit might not actually need replaced , this is just research at this point. I don't know how old the units are but I'm going to try and figure that out today. They also need serviced but that's another story.
Cheers, Max
PS - If MrCaptainBob replies to this I'll have to buy him a beer, he's always answering my questions.
