If you defrosted the freezer manually, the icemaker needs to freeze for 12 to 24 hours before it can fill water. There is a parafin thermostate control sensor in the power head that prevents it from filling water unless the refrigerator is freezing. That prevents the possibility of overfilling water and flooding in the event the refrigerator is not freezing.

IF the unit has had 24 hours to freeze and it still doesnt fill with water:

First, check the ice maker power cord to make sure it is plugged into the matching socket on the freezer wall.

    1. On the inside of the freezer compartment on the back wall right above the icemaker you will see the water inlet tube where the water feeds the ice makers. Check that tube to be sure it is not plugged up with ice.

2.When looking at the front of the icemaker you see the square powerhead section (4 x 4 platic box).

on the lower right side of the powerhead, on the back you should see a round plastic disc about 1/2 to 3/4 inch diameter with a recessed slot in it. insert a quarter in the slot and turn that disc about 1/4 to 1/2 turn and the cube rakers should start rotating. The rakers should go through the mold and back up and around the top. When they reach about the 1 o'clock position the ice maker should start filling water.

    3. If the rakers rotate completely around and it does not fill water:

    4. Turn the water supply valve off under the sink, then disconnect the water line from the water solenoid valve on the back of the refrigerator cabinet. Hold the end of the water line in a container while someone turns the water on slowly to make sure the line is not plugged up.

    5. If the line appears to be plugged up, look for a water filter on the line. Disconnect the line from the supply side of the filter and test again. If you have water to the filter, but no water at the fridge, replace the filter.

    6. Check the line connection on the solenoid valve. some have screens in them and the screen may be plugged up. If so, remove the screen and rinse it off. Replace the screen and reconnect the water line to the solenoid valve.

7.Unplug the refrigerator, then disconnect the two wires from the solenoid valve control coil. Use and ohm meter to insure continuity through the coil. If no continuity, replace the water valve.

    8. replace the wires on the solenoid valve, Plug the fridge in, then restart the control head with the quarter as before. When the rakers are near the top of the rotation, use a volt meter to see if the water valve solenoid is getting power.

    9. If it is getting power and no water to the ice maker, replace the solenoid valve.

    10. If the rakers go through a complete rotation and the water solenoid does not get voltage, the problem is in the micro switch in the control head.

Than the refrigerator is not cooling properly and has nothing to do with the icemaker or filter... which this message thread was about.

If you'd like help with your problem please start your own message (rather than replying to someone else's) and be sure to include the make and model number of the appliance in question as the forum notice requested:
