  • Replacing lid switch- Kenmore Advantage Washer

    Hello,

How easy is it going to be to replace this? Actually I may be able to just superglue the plastic where the screws attach- both sides where the screws go in are busted.

A tip on how to get the cover/top off would be a great start. Do I leave the lid hinges alone?

    Thanks,

    Dutch

Under the front corners are spring latches. Use a stiff putty knife and push and pull upward. Should release. Backside take off the one or two screws and remove the formed metal clips.

The ones that are on the side- near the front corners? I read that website under "Appliance how to" and this washer isn't like that. These are on the sides near the front corners...and they're plastic. Maybe the spring latches are there though? It doesn't seem to work like they and you describe though. At least I can't feel or see the latches where they're pictured on that website. I can see all the way thru- except where those plastic things are where it seems to be attached.

Also, there seems to be a screwor bolt on each side in the middle- on the sides. I can see it when looking thru the crack but there's no way to get at it.

      Thanks.

sometimes they're fastened ina sort of wierd fashion. You remove the back screws and brackets and then pull the top forward and up - this may release it too. Take a look at www.repairclinic.com. There's normally a graphic of a washer there

On most kenmore or whirlpool washers and driers the lid catches are about 3 inches in from the corner, but i have found some washers where the catch a bit further in toward center, almost in line with the sides of the fill lid.
