If the front, does your model dryer's drum ride directly on the felt drum seal or are there plastic/Teflon slides or glides which are suppose to be between the two???
If you post the machine's brand name and its model number, we can find out what is suppose to be there and which might be able to be done to correct any problems. You can find tips for locating the model and serial number tag on your appliances at this link:

It is a frigidaire gallery and the drum rides directly on the felt but the felt seems to be flattened down and somewhat hard. I took my pocket knife and roughed the felt up so it wasn't so hard and doesn't squeak now but I haven't ran it yet but by hand. Is it common for these felt strips to wear out?

That marketing name doesn't help much to narrow it down.quote:Originally posted by riva1

The repair for some Frigidaire dryers was to install a revised front drum seal which does have drum slides. I have no idea if that would be applicable to your dryer without knowing which exact model it is.quote:the drum rides directly on the felt but the felt

That is one of the models which is suppose to receive a revised front slide kit if it ever experienced problems. You can see the suggested replacement at the following link:quote:Originally posted by riva1
