  • burner won't stay lit

Maytag Dependable Care gas heater model# LDG9334AAE, serial#A168634OKS.

After turning the unit on the burner runs for a few seconds and goes out. About 30 seconds later it reignites and goes out a few seconds later again. the cyle repeats. Air vent is clear. What is wrong?

** Air vent is clear. **

Not only does it have to be clear but it can't be too long (see the following link) either. Has the dryer always been in the same location and working Ok??

Does the ignitor continue to glow the whole time or does it cycle on and off too?

If the venting is *definitely* not the problem and the ignitor cycles on and off (glows then you hear a click and it goes dark), there's a very good chance that the solenoid coils on the gas valve are defective and need to be replaced.

The ignitor goes out and cools down, then glows again and the burner ignites and goes out again.

Try this for diagnostics. go to www.repairclinic.com and choose gas, maytag, dryer. This will expand into a pictorial with "mouse over" drawing. position mouse over component and it will give you ideas and what may be wrong.

The gas valve's solenoid coils a famous for working Ok but opening up once in use. They may even be able to be tested at time of failure as JCA1 stated he was able to do in the previous forum message at the following link:

It was the coils. Thanks so much.
