  • Don't want to buy a new dryer

We have a Kenmore Elite. Model # 1107392101 5 years old.

when moving automatic timer control/more dry/dry, machine starts and stops on its own. Also from time to time, moving timer in different position start machine but usually its stops too. Pilot and gas starts up and run while wigglening the automatic control when the tempature is on fluff. Will some one please save us $600.00

** when moving automatic timer control/more dry/dry, machine starts and stops on its own. **

When? Immediately when you move the control?

Is your complaint that it starts on its own when that setting is changed or that stops and restarts on its own after it is running??

** Pilot and gas starts up and run while wigglening the automatic control when the temperature is on fluff. **

And it won't any other time? Is that another complaint??

** Will some one please save us $600.00 **

Where'd that figure come from? Have you already had someone look at it?? What was their diagnosis???

We can try to help YOU repair it yourself (thus saving you money) but YOU are going to need to do the work. A start will be supplying more detailed and accurate complaint(s). Once we have that, we may be able to suggest a possible culprit or areas that will need actual testing by someone.

I agree with Dan, your very good at this Dan... by the way. However, I might say that you have a timer/control problem or a bad connection somewhere that will more than likely need to be checked by a pro. If so the labor and parts(if needed) will probably cost as much or close to, maybe even more, than a new dryer.......just a guess.

Sounds like a contact within the timer is shorted out in the start circuit. Normally in dryers I've seen a timer function followed by a start push button to get it going. Now if the interlock curcuit is shorted, then yes everything will start/stop as the timer contacts are rotated about the timer circuit.
Used to be things were isolated like a start relay and run relay but now everything is on one circuit board.

Thanks for helping us here. We decided to replace the microcomputer and see if that helps. The old had some burnt spots here and there. I'll let you know what happens.

Probably a pretty good sign of failure.

            Please do.
