Kenmore Oven Will not work

I have a Kenmore stove/oven model 362.71665961.
It is a gas stove with electric ignition. The stove top is still working. The oven will not ignite. Are there some trouble shooting steps I can take?
Is this something that I can fix myself?
I'm illiterate when it comes to appliances so any help would be greatly appreciated.

The fact that you claim to be illeterat with appliances leads me to say don't work it, especially since it's gas. It's a very easy problem to fix(ignitor) and should cost around $100 to fix by a pro. Get your model number handy, call a repairman and ask what he will charge to replace the ignitor with a universal one(don't request or accept a factory replacement because they cost twice as much easy, but their no better). He may recommend replacement of the valve too as this is common with some folks. There is the threat of a new ignitor permanetly warping the warp strip in the safety valve. This will be another $80-$200. I would try the ignitor first and see, if the valve works properly the first time with the new ignitor your OK.

I'm afraid I have no idea what you are capable of. A first step would be seeing if you can determine the cause. I agree with JCA1 that an ignitor failure is the most common part for fail on such oven ignition systems. If that's the case, it is not usually that difficult to replace.
