  • Same dryer, new problem

Ok,I've replaced the motor and control board in my Maytag Neptune model MDE5500AYW. Now when I'm not using the dryer or if the dryer is running it radomly beeps. When the dryer is off, it will beep a few times and the indicator lights and time remaining display will come on waiting for the start button to be pressed to start a cycle. It seems to be drying my clothes fine though. Any ideas?

Maybe one (or more) of the control keypad buttons are shorted causing the control to think someone was trying to program it??? That is just a guess as I've never heard of your symptoms before.

I went ahead and tested the buttons according to the wiring diagram with a multimeter and everything checks out. After I put it back together and plugged it in it seems to be working fine (for now). Not sure what the heck it's problem is. Maybe I got a bad control board from repairclinic.com or ?????????

** I went ahead and tested the buttons according to the wiring diagram with a multimeter and everything checks out. **

Failures can be intermittent, they're not always 100% complete. Maybe the jarring of testing reset the failure or maybe it was just caused by a loose connection or something installed incorrectly the first time?

We'll keep our fingers crossed for you.
