Hi everyone,
I have a problem I was hoping someone could help me with. I recently had my garbage disposal replaced, prior to which my dishwasher was working fine. It is fairly new, although I just bought the house and don't have the warranty information on it.
That night I started the dishwasher and went to bed. When I went to empty the dishes the next day I noticed there was a lot of standing water in the dishwasher; it had somehow lost power mid-cycle. I tested the breakers and the wall switch and they were both on.
I looked at the garbage disposal, thinking that must be the culprit, but the dishwasher doesn't run through the disposal at all. It drains through the second sink. I've read through all of the dishwasher topics and read online that there is a panel that needs to be knocked out in a new disposal. But, in my case, that panel isn't uncovered or hooked to anything so I didn't think that could be cause.
The only thing I could think of is that when the disposal was replaced the sink was plunged in order to clear a jam in the pipes. I thought this may have caused a subsequent clog in the line to the dishwasher. But I've run through all of the pipes to see if a clog may be in another section and I couldn't find anything. I've even checked out the flex hose and everything seems clear. Before I call a repair man I thought I'd see if anyone has any good ideas. I'm stumped as to where to go next.
The dishwasher is an Americana Hotpoint Model ADW1000K00WW
Thanks!
