Doing a load in the washing machine today. Went downstairs and smelled rubber burning, the machine had run thru rinse cycle-must not have spun because the fabric softner ball was not open, of course I had jeans in there! When I set machine back to spin and closed the lid it made a screeching sound but would not spin. It is an old machine, is it worth repairing or should I buy new?

That is impossible to say until someone actually looks into it and determines the present cause. It could be something fairly simple so I would suggest it is at least worth looking into before scrapping it... unless the machine is in really bad shape (rusting, etc.) already.Originally posted by belledbaby
