  • GE 'fridge ice door...

    The darn ice flapper door has to be manually closed. Ice build up can jam that pretty good if it's left open. What controls that, and how might I access it?
    Model GSS25JFMCWW, serial FD244841.

    There is a solenoid in the door (see the following link).

    However, if that solenoid has rusted making it inoperative, that is caused by moisture getting into that area. Many newer GE fridge models have experienced such problems. GE has come up with a 'repair kit' to try to correct future problems with it. You can see the needed kit in that case at this link:

    Sorry but I can't say as I haven't had the 'pleasure' of doing that job myself. You can however see exploded parts views of your fridge model at this link. Maybe they will give you an idea? The repair kit does look to come with instructions though.
