  • Kenmore dryer #110.62854100......help

My dryer is sorta making a squeaking noise.

Anyone have any ideas on what it could be?

Also, I don't know the first thing about getting into my dryer, can you tell me how to go about it?

    Thanks.

dryer is sorta making a squeaking noise.
Common areas for such sounds are a worn idler (belt tension) pulley and worn drum rollers. Both are available in a single 'maintenance kit' (along with a new belt), if needed.

You can read some tips at the following link:

        another question

Dan, I got into my dryer ok, thanks to the info. you guided me to.

The Idler Pulley on my dryer does not look like the one in the Dryer Maintenance Kit, it does not have a roller, instead it has a stationary half moon that keeps the tension on the belt and seems to have a groove the belt is in. Should this be smooth and not have a groove in it? And if so, would that be causing the squeak?
After I got the idler pulley off, I turned the dryer on and it sounded fine, no squeak.
Will the pulley in the Dryer Maintenance Kit work in my dryer and be interchangeable since it is a roller and not like the one on my dryer?

        I appreciate your help. Thanks

** The Idler Pulley on my dryer does not look like the one in the Dryer Maintenance Kit, it does not have a roller, instead it has a stationary half moon **

Yes. Whirlpool (whom made your dryer for Sears) tried that idler design... for a very short time. It is replaced with the tired and true pulley previously used on their dryer models, which is included in that kit. Isn't progress wonderful?

** would that be causing the squeak? **

          It's possible, yes.

** After I got the idler pulley off, I turned the dryer on and it sounded fine, no squeak. **

You mean took the pulley off *and reinstalled it*?? The dryer will not run without some sort of idler pulley in place to keep tension on the belt.

Thanks Dan, just wanted to be sure the parts were right before I ordered them.
