  • Refrigerator gurgle

I have a five year old Frigidaire refrigerator/freezer and it started making a noise today. Each time I close the door to either the refrigerator or the freezer sections there is a fairly loud gurgling sound. I have read through the list of refrigerator posts and I have checked at the following link:

LINK > My new refrigerator is making strange sounds. What is wrong with it?

and though it sounds like 7b The defrost water drain, I wonder about the part that says "My new refrigerator . . ." My refrigerator isn't new. Also what kind of repair is involved? The noise is pretty annoying, but a complicated repair may be more annoying. Anyway, I would appreciate any advice/information.

    Thanks, George

Defrost water drain gurgling when door opened.

** it sounds like 7b The defrost water drain **

    I agree.

** I wonder about the part that says "My new refrigerator . . ." My refrigerator isn't new. **

You said "five year old Frigidaire" which would make it a newer, more energy efficient refrigerator model which much of that link pertains to. It doesn't necessarily mean "brand new" although if someone had just replaced a 15-20 year old model, it would likely be the first time they've ever heard many of the listed sounds.

** Also what kind of repair is involved? **

I'm afraid i do not know what solutions Frigidaire suggests for whatever model of Frigidaire refrigerator you have. You may have to check with them or one of their factory authorized service depots (after supplying the appliance's exact model number) to see what they suggest. Whatever it is, it will only be *an attempt* to eliminate the sound. There is no guaranty with these newer fridge designs I'm afraid.

You can find tips for locating the model and serial number identification tag on your appliances in the 'Repair Parts' section of my web site linked below.
