I have a Badger 5 1/2 H.P. disposal which is leaking from the reset switch and a couple of other spots on the bottom. I've been told it's probably the flywheel seal. Is it worth trying to replace this, or just buy a new one for $80.00+? Thanks!

The main seal beneath the rotating shredder, yes.Originally posted by milwbrrr

If that seal has failed, water has gotten into a lot of places it shouldn't, including the top bearing, motor windings and start switch. Is it worth trying to replace this

Just that seal is not available separately anyway, it only comes already installed in the upper end bell housing (along with the bearing). And no, such a job is not usually worthwhile on the cheaper disposer models unless it is still covered by warranty.
