I was given a generator from a relative that used it for his business. He's too busy to have anything repaired. Its less than 3 years ols and cost him $2000. Its made by MMD and has an 11hp Honda motor. Motor runs perfect but produces no electricity. I opened the generator head cover and can see some of the windings damaged. Stator perhaps. Is it posssible to fix this? I would prefer to swap the whole generator assembly but cant find any info on this or the parts to do it. Thanks for any advice.

Failing that try contacting an electrical motor repair shop to see if they can rewind the original as that might be an option... but usually of last resort only.

Generator
Thanks for the replys. Yes it is manufactured by MMD and the model is NGK-6000H. I got the run around a bit. They dont deal with consumers and the retailer doesent follow up my calls. First thing he said was big $$$ and ill get back to you. Never heard from him. I dont know what caused the stator fo fail so id like to swap that whole unit if possible. Its got a honda engine. Is it possible to bolt on one from another brand. Like an MTD,coleman etc? 6000 max/5000 running. Im going to try the manufacturer one more time. One more question. In the likely event that i cant fix it, im wondering if the engine would be useful for something else. Do you think the shaft is straight or tapered? Tapered wouldnt be very useful. Thanks

Most generators I've run into with Honda engines are all a tapered shaft with one through bolt holding it on. the rotor is self excited with two visible diodes evident. how badly does the stator look? are the windings fried? color like burnt toast?

Did you try the phone numbers at the parts link I left?
