  • corning smooth top stove burner is out

Within a week or so my two large burners went out. The cooktop model is DC1 - (CQ-7391-1) The oven label reads DC1 40261103777 and below has 12750. Can te heat units under the white ceramic top be replaced, and if so how do you get to them? The smaller burners and noven work fine. THANK YOU

Is this a cooktop and separate oven or a range/stove appliance (cooktop and oven combined in a single appliance)??

    OR

What brand name is this/these appliances?

Can the [elements] under the white ceramic top be replaced
As long as parts are still available the individual elements should be able to be replaced, yes.

But just because the elements are not working doesn't necessarily mean that the elements themselves are the cause of the problem. There could be a failure of their switches, the wiring between them or the limiter (safety cutout) of the element (if available separately from the elements).

if so how do you get to them?
That will depend on the brand name and model number of the appliance and how it was designed. On most smooth top electric ranges, the glass top lifts up somehow to expose the elements beneath (usually attached to the underside of the glass). If this is actually a separate cooktop, it would usually need to be removed from the counter top first before disassembly can be done but will depend on how the product was actually designed.

corning smoothtop's two large burners stopped working

      Thanks, Dan,

The oven and cooktop are one unit with the name Corning on the front of the cooktop, which does lift up from the front. All burner and oven controls are on the cooktop lift up portion.

Than the appliance type is a "range".

with the name Corning on the front of the cooktop
Was the word "Corning" just printed on the gass itself?

If so, just that glass was likely made by Corning but not the rest of the appliance. In such a case we would need to know the whole range manufacturer's name to find out more about it. Corning used to make the glass tops for all manufacturer's smooth top ranges. (They don't make the glass for ranges at all any longer.)

If that name is on some sort of plaque or name plate attached to the rest of the appliance somewhere, than it might be a Corning brand stove although I have never come across one myself and have no idea where you'd get parts for one. Sorry.

I have not seen a unit as you described, I do not know how you would access the elements on it. You can't see any screws holding it together?
