    hotpoint dryer won't shut of

    hotpoint model dlb2450ralwh won't shut off. equipped with sensor dryer and timer dry cycles. neither one will shut off dryer. dryer starts, heats up, drys clothes and keeps running until someone opens door to stop it. need help before kids burn house down!!

    It could be the TIMER is at fault. When it reaches the cycle time, the spring in the TIMER mechanism is not allowing it to break the contact.

      If it does not shut off on the time cycle and the auto cycle it is the timer.
      If it shuts off on the timed cycle but not on the auto cycle it is a air flow problem, such as a restricted vent.
