  • disposal vent- new faucet

hello- i just purchased a new faucet and want to install it- however, i have a little bit of a problem. I currently have a vent hole in my sink for the dishwasher and disposal (plastic with chrome casing) and my new faucet has a sprayer which i would like to put where this vent currently is. My question is this... Do i have to keep this vent there or can i attatch both pipes (dishwasher and disposal) directly to the drain side of my sink? (double sink)- i really don't want to have to drill another hole in my sink if it is not needed. What are my options?? I appreciate your input!!

    Hi!

You can connect the disposal to one of the sinks and run it into a T that picks up the other sink. The bottonm of the T runs down through the trap into the rest of the line. Then connect the dishwasher to the disposal (make sure to break out and remove the tab!!!). You donot need the vent, but make sure that the dishwasher line is looped above where it connects into the disposal to prevent other waste water from going back to the dishwasher. I use an eye hook screwed into the base cabinet side wall with a plastic zip strip (tie) securing the dishwasher line. Man, I hope that makes sense! If not, please post up and I will try to provide a picture for you.

    Best of luck!

We are also looking at doing this but are replacing the kitchen sink as well. I understand the first part but pics of where the dishwasher hooks into the disposal would be helpful.
      Thanks
