  • Whirlpool Dryer Issues... Need Help!

I have a Whirlpool Dryer, model # ler4634jq1 that will not start up, heat up or run at all. I have checked the door switch and the push-to-start switch and all tone out. I have power coming from the outlet and into the cord and thats about all i have tested confidently. Any suggestions? Need whatever help that I can get, the wife is mad that I won't just go and buy another one........

Whirlpool Dryer, model LER4634JQ1 will not start up, heat up or run at all.
The heater will not come on without the motor running, as a safety precaution. If power is definitely getting to the dryer, the door switch and timer are possibilities for the motor not running although there is also a thermal fuse (see the following link) in the dryer on the blower housing which if open would also stop the motor's operation.

The motor itself could also be defective. Basically, if the motor is getting power but not running, it is defective. If it is not even getting power than the stoppage is elsewhere in the appliance or no power to the appliance.

If a thermal fuse has failed an *extensive* inspection of the dryer venting (see the following link) should be done. It is a safety device usually attempting to point out a possibly hazardous situation.
