dish washer detergent wont release

the model is - Whirlpool Quiet Wash Plus 930 Series -
it runs the full cycle but doesnt release the detergent
any ideas?
does this model have many problems liek this?

I'm afraid that is not enough information to identify the appliance in question. What is needed is its exact model number ("Quiet Wash Plus 930 Series" isn't it). If you post it we can look it up to see what appliance design you're dealing with.

Maybe there's a problem with the dispenser mechanism? Maybe it isn't being powered when it should be?

Probably no more than any other model. Only actual investigation will lead to finding the cause in your case.

I'm sure Dan O is gonna sk for the complete appliance number before he can troubleshoot the machine. the detergent cup is spring operated with a small electromagnet used to release it. y0u'll need to take apart the door to get at it.
