  • Fridgidaire washer clothes still wet

    I have a top-loading Frigidaire washer.
Water drains fine when it is empty.
When I have a load of clothes it seems to drain but clothes are still really wet when I take them out.
The bigger the load the more wet they seem.
    Any suggestions?
    thanks,
    Jokerboy

My first thought is it needs a new drive belt.
    How old is the washer?
It should be easy to replace the belt.
If you could post a model number I could look up a diagram to see what has to be done to replace the belt on your model.

      Thanks, John.
      The model number is WA6620R.
I bought it used about 5 years ago and I think it was 1 or 2 years old at that time.

It is very easy to replace the belt on this model.

        Unplug the power cord!

        Remove the front panel.
There are two screws at the bottom corners holding the panel in place.
Remove the two screws and slide the panel down towards the floor to remove it from the washer.

Once you have the front panel removed from the washer you will be able to see the drive belt.

Take a close look at how the belt idler is.
Roll the old belt off and take a look at it.
If it is glossy replace it.

I would guess with the age of the washer you should just replace the belt well you have it apart.

Let us know how it goes.

        Good luck,

          John,
I replaced the blet which it really needed. However, the clothes are still coming out really wet. Any suggestions where I might try next?
          thanks,
          Chris

I just noticed that it is not just still damp but there are lots of suds in the tub as well.
            thanks,
            Chris

Glad to hear you got the belt changed ok.
Can you put the drain hose into a large bucket or sink so you can watch it pump the water out?
Does it pump the water out with a lot of force or is it week?

I would check the water pump and drain hoses for restrictions.
Sometimes if you have washed something like rugs lint or the rubber backing will come up plugging things up.

The washer pumps out on time. So it only has so much time to get the water out of the tub before it turns off.

                John,
Here's the latest. I have been busy and not able to check the pump however, my clothes keep getting dirty so I have been running an extra spin cycle to get rid of the extra water. Now it is draining fine. Maybe whatever was blocking the pump/drain cleared out?
                thanks for your help.
