Hi all, Samsung refrigerator ice maker stopped working properly. How to fix if it doesn’t make enough ice or jams up completely. Thanks in advance!

    Hi DK!

Assuming there is no issue with the water supply line and leveling of the fridge. One thing to try is cleaning the ice maker itself. Over time, mineral deposits or debris can build up and cause the ice maker to jam or underperform. You can find tutorials online for how to safely disassemble and clean the ice maker components. Be very careful when handling the delicate parts.

Another potential culprit could be a problem with the thermostat or other electrical components that control the ice maker. If it's not getting the right signal to turn on or cycle properly, that would explain the inconsistent ice production. You may need to have a technician diagnose and replace any faulty parts.

It's also worth checking if there have been any software updates for your Samsung fridge model that could address known ice maker issues. Manufacturers are often quite responsive to common problems that arise, so an update may have a fix.

If cleaning and checking the electrical side doesn't resolve it, you may need to replace the ice maker itself. This is generally not an expensive repair, but it does require some disassembly work. A repair technician can assess whether the ice maker component is the root cause and guide you on the best solution.
